The Sickle Cell Disease Support Group of Ghana (SCDSG), NGO Reg. No. CG01387022, is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who interacts with our website, programmes, and membership services — in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
1. What We Collect
SCDSG collects only the minimum personal information necessary to operate our programmes:
- Membership registration (via Google Forms): full name, contact number, email, category of membership (patient/family, healthcare professional, or corporate).
- Newsletter subscription: full name and email address.
- Contact form / WhatsApp / email enquiries: whatever information you choose to share with us directly.
2. Why We Collect It
- To register and manage your SCDSG membership
- To send newsletter updates, awareness campaigns, and event invitations (only if you opt in)
- To respond to enquiries you send us
- To verify eligibility for participation in SCDSG governance activities, such as the General Election of Executives
3. How We Store and Protect It
Membership and form data is stored using Google's secure infrastructure (Google Forms / Sheets), with access restricted to designated SCDSG administrators only. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Election Voting & Member Verification
For SCDSG's General Election of Executives, we use a unique anonymous code system rather than personal data. Each registered member is issued a unique code used only to verify eligibility and enforce one-vote-per-member — the voting system itself does not store your name, contact details, or any personal identifiers alongside your vote.
5. Your Rights
Under Act 843, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (where we are not legally required to retain it)
- Withdraw consent and unsubscribe from communications at any time
- Object to processing of your data

6. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for, or as required by law. Members who discontinue their membership may request their data be removed from our records.

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We do not run third-party ad networks.

SCDSG may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date above.
